Pluto, a dwarf planet, had a special “birthday” this month. it was found 95 years ago, on February 18, 1930. an American astronomer, Clyde Tombaugh, discovered pluto. He used a telescope in arizona.

At first, Pluto was called a planet. It was the first new planet found in 84 years. But in 2006, astronomers changed pluto's class. now, it is called a dwarf planet. This is because pluto is small and has a limited path around the sun.

Scientists still study Pluto's air, called an atmosphere. In 2015, a spacecraft from earth, named new horizons, flew close to pluto and took pictures. Alice Bowman, who managed the mission, said these pictures were like “gold” for studying planets.
